Narrative
The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported on March 23, 1993 that Hemet agreed to give Wal-Mart a sales tax rebate of up to $750,000 if the store could generate that amount in its first 30 months of business. The city waived $650,000 in development fees for Wal-Mart and $50,000 in building fees for the shopping center developer, and also provided $330,000 in infrastructure improvements. Local officials did not not respond to requests from Good Jobs First for information.
